Van Recovery

Van Recovery | Commercial Van & Light Commercial Recovery

A van breaking down is rarely just about the vehicle — there's a load on board, a job waiting, and a driver whose day stops the moment the engine does. Road Buddy recovers vans and light commercials across Warwickshire and the Midlands with an eye on getting your business moving again, not just the vehicle off the road.

Downtime costs more than the recovery

For a trade van or courier vehicle, every hour off the road is an hour of missed jobs or deliveries. When you call, tell us it's a working van and what's on board — we plan the recovery around getting you back to work as quickly as is safely possible, not just moving the vehicle from A to B.

Loaded vans and weight limits

A van full of tools, stock or materials weighs considerably more than an empty one, and that affects which recovery vehicle and loading method are appropriate. Tell us if the van is loaded and roughly how heavy the load is when you book, so we send equipment rated for the actual weight rather than assuming an empty vehicle.

LWB and high-top clearance

Long-wheelbase and high-top vans need more room to load and more headroom under bridges or in covered car parks than a standard car. We check the van's dimensions when you book so the recovery vehicle sent can actually accommodate it — there's nothing worse than a truck arriving that's the wrong size for the job.

Keeping tools and stock secure

A broken-down van left at the roadside with the rear doors visible is a target, particularly overnight. We can secure the vehicle before recovery and keep the load with the van throughout, rather than separating driver, vehicle and contents at different stages. If the load needs to travel separately for any reason, tell us and we'll plan around it.

Transferring or escorting the load

Where a van can't reasonably be recovered with a heavy load still aboard, or where the destination needs the load kept separately, we can help arrange for it to be transferred to another vehicle or escorted to where it needs to be, rather than leaving that logistics problem entirely to you at the roadside.

Depot and site collections

Not every van recovery starts at the roadside. We collect vans from depots, yards and job sites too, which is often more straightforward than a live breakdown since access and timing can be arranged in advance rather than reacted to.

Fleet and insurance paperwork, realistically

If the van is on a fleet account or company insurance, tell us at the point of booking — some fleet arrangements need a reference number or authorisation before recovery, and it's quicker to sort that upfront than after the vehicle is loaded. We'll work with whatever process your fleet requires where we reasonably can.
