M42 Mobile Tyre Fitting & Breakdown Recovery

Broken down or got a flat on the M42? Road Buddy covers the M42 from Bromsgrove round to Tamworth — past Solihull, the NEC and Birmingham Airport — for mobile tyres, recovery and jump starts.

If you are stopped in a live lane or in immediate danger, call 999 first.

Motorway attendance and any roadside work depend on safe access and your exact location. We will not fit tyres or work beside live traffic — the vehicle may need to be recovered to a suitable safe location before work can be completed.

The M42 wraps around the south and east of Birmingham, linking the M5 near Bromsgrove with the M40, the M6 and the M6 Toll before heading north to Tamworth. It carries airport, NEC and commuter traffic as well as long-distance traffic switching between motorways.

Because so many motorways meet on the M42, it matters exactly where you are. This page lists the junctions we cover, the service areas on the route and what to send us so we can reach you on the right carriageway.

M42 Mobile Tyre Fitting

Mobile tyre fitting on the M42 means we bring a tyre in your size and fit it once you are somewhere safe — off the motorway at a junction, at Hopwood Park or Tamworth Services, or in a car park near the NEC or airport. We do not work beside live traffic.

The M42 between J3a and J7 is a smart motorway section. If your tyre fails there and you cannot reach a junction, use an emergency area if one is within reach, get out on the verge side and call for help.

Tyre fitter near M42 J6 (NEC and Birmingham Airport)

J6 is the A45 junction for Birmingham Airport, the NEC and Resorts World. If you discover a flat tyre in an airport or NEC car park, tell us which car park and level — we can often fit a tyre there if the operator allows it and there is room to work.

Puncture repair near Solihull (J4 and J5)

If a nail or screw is in the main tread, a puncture repair may be possible instead of a new tyre. We check the damage before recommending a repair, and we will tell you if the tyre needs replacing instead.

M42 Breakdown Recovery

M42 breakdown recovery takes your vehicle off the motorway to wherever you need it — home, a dealer, an independent garage or a safe location. With the M5, M40, M6 and M6 Toll all meeting the M42, many of our recovery trips are across Solihull, Birmingham and Coleshill.

Tell us your destination when you call and we will quote for the full journey before we set off.

Recovery near the M6 and M6 Toll interchanges (J7–J9)

Junctions 7, 7a and 8 connect the M42 with the M6, and J9 is the A446/A4097 junction at Coleshill near the M6 Toll. Slip roads here are long and confusing, so a WhatsApp location pin is the easiest way to show us exactly which link road you are on.

M42 Car Recovery & Vehicle Recovery

We recover cars and light vehicles that cannot be driven safely — non-starters, collision damage, lost drive, or tyre and wheel damage that cannot be fixed on site. If the problem is a flat battery or a single damaged tyre, we can often fix it rather than tow it.

M42 Emergency Tyre Replacement

Emergency tyre replacement is for tyres that cannot be repaired. On the M42 that often means a tyre damaged by debris or kerbing on a slip road. We confirm tyre stock for your size before setting off, so send a photo of the sidewall with your message.

M42 Jump Start & Flat Battery Help

Flat batteries are common after a car has sat in an airport or NEC car park for a few days. We can jump start most cars and small vans, and supply and fit a new battery from our stocked brands if yours will not hold a charge.
