What happens when you call

Tell us where you are, what the car is doing (or not doing) and roughly how many people and how much luggage are travelling with it. We use that to send the right vehicle and give you a price before anyone drives out, so you're not agreeing to figures once a driver is already stood next to your car.

We aim to reach you within about 30–45 minutes on average, though traffic, location and time of day all play a part. If you're on a motorway hard shoulder or somewhere unsafe, get yourself and any passengers behind the barrier or well away from the carriageway before you do anything else.

Where we take the car — and you

Most recoveries end at one of three places: your home, your usual garage, or a main dealer if the fault needs diagnostic equipment we don't carry on the road. Some customers ask for a specific independent garage they trust, which is fine — we just need the postcode and any access notes.

You and your passengers travel in the recovery vehicle cab alongside the driver, so there's no need to arrange a separate lift home. Let us know in advance if you've got more passengers than the cab can seat, so we can plan around it.

On arrival: loading, keys and paperwork

  • The driver checks the car is safe to load — handbrake, gear selector and steering lock are all considered before winching or driving it onto the bed
  • You'll need the key (or a spare) so the car can be steered and braked while loading, even if it won't start
  • V5C, insurance details or a breakdown reference aren't required for us to recover the car, but keep them to hand if the destination garage asks for them
  • We'll confirm the final destination address with you before leaving the scene

Knowing the cost before we're on our way

Recovery pricing depends on distance, vehicle type and time of day. We talk you through this on the phone so you can decide whether to go ahead, rather than finding out once the car is already loaded. If your plans change mid-call — a different destination, a second stop to collect something — just say so and we'll re-confirm.

Automatic gearboxes and electric cars

Automatic and dual-clutch gearboxes, along with four-wheel-drive systems, can be damaged if towed on their own wheels for any distance, which is why we load rather than tow wherever the car allows it. Electric and hybrid vehicles need the same care: if the 12V system is dead the parking mechanism may need releasing manually, and our drivers know how to do this without risking the drivetrain or the high-voltage battery pack.

If you're not sure whether your car is automatic, hybrid or has all-wheel drive, just describe the model when you call — we'll work it out from there.

Non-runners and cars that won't move at all

A car that's completely dead — flat battery beyond a jump start, seized engine, driveline fault — still gets recovered the same way. We winch it onto the bed rather than needing it to be driven or pushed, so a non-runner isn't a problem, it's simply the reason you're calling us.

After a minor bump or collision

If the car has been in a collision but everyone is unhurt and the scene is safe, we can recover it from the roadside once you've exchanged details with the other party or reported it as needed. For anything involving injury, fuel leaks or a vehicle blocking a live carriageway, always call 999 first.

Where we cover

We recover cars across Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth, Coventry, Rugby, Stratford-upon-Avon, Nuneaton and Southam, and the villages between them. If you're just outside this area, call anyway — we can often still help or point you in the right direction.
